Jonathan Hooker
Originally a manufacturing engineer by training, I moved into coaching and consultancy about 30 years ago. I spent 15 years as consultant working mainly in the UK and Finland but living in France, before moving to Barcelona 14 years ago. At that time my children who were 10 and 11 years old, came to live with me and I became a full-time single parent, so I set up a psychotherapy, coaching and counselling practice from home. More recently, I have been working more in consultancy again, as the boys are grown up. I combine that with trips to Ghana to work with an NGO there, and teaching Management and Organisation at a small university in Barcelona.
Why IS MKPUK&I significant to me?
I have been interested in how boys become men for many years, and have read many books and visited tribes in Ghana, when working with the charity there, to understand how their rites of passage work. I went on my NWTA in September 2016 and PIT weekend in February 2017. I have also attended Leader Training 1.
I live in Barcelona with my partner Portia, and my two grown up sons are called Guy and Louis from my marriage with Cleo. I love reading, the cinema and travel. I am president of the Spanish board of the Ghana-based NGO called OAfrica, and am a permanent member of the international advisory board of OAfrica responsible for organisational development.
